Patch planning guide

Prepare a printed patch file without losing the focal point

Review crop, text, color references and useful image detail before approval.

A printed or sublimated patch can carry artwork that does not translate naturally into thread or molded relief. That flexibility makes file preparation important: a photograph, gradient and caption need a coherent small-format composition rather than a compressed copy of a larger poster.

Choose the shape before the final crop

Set the finished outline and decide what the viewer must recognize. Keep important subjects away from the finishing boundary. If the image does not fit, crop thoughtfully or add an intentional surrounding design; stretching the picture changes proportions without solving the composition problem.

Distinguish resolution from readability

A technically large image can still contain tiny or low-contrast type that becomes unreadable after reduction. Supply the best source file available and inspect it at the actual patch dimensions. Preserve editable text where practical so changes do not require rebuilding a flattened, compressed image.

Name the important color decisions

Identify critical reference colors and explain whether the design depends on a particular contrast or gradient. A monitor is not a physical color standard. Discuss the intended process and proof expectations rather than treating a screenshot as an absolute guarantee of finished color.

Finish the specification beyond the image

State the attachment preference, border requirements, quantity and receiving deadline. A clear printed face does not determine whether the patch belongs on a garment or gear. Keep the final file revision and approved crop with those practical details for later reorders.

Proof, production and shipping

Standard turnaround is approximately 10 business days, including production and shipping, starting from the next business day after final mockup approval. Priority Rush turnaround is approximately 7 business days, including production and shipping, starting from the next business day after final mockup approval.

Quantities from 1 are available. Quantities 1–10 use the existing ten-piece BASE production charge; per-piece add-ons use the actual ordered quantity.

Quotation shipping is free at $120 or more; otherwise it is $35. Confirm the destination and schedule in your quote.

Questions for this project

Can a screenshot replace the original artwork file?

It may communicate an idea, but it can lose useful detail and color information. Send the best authorized source available and explain the intended final dimensions.

Why review type separately from the picture?

Small text over a detailed image can lose contrast at patch size. Give the message a clear area or simplify competing details before approval.
