Patch planning guide

Prepare embroidery artwork at the size it will be stitched

Use a clear hierarchy for small lettering, fill areas and borders.

Designing an embroidered patch is a translation from artwork to a physical thread surface. The goal is not to preserve every pixel at any size. Identify the essential shape and message, then review how line thickness, lettering and the edge work together at the planned dimensions.

Start with the smallest essential word

Write down which text must remain readable. Look at the design at actual size and ask whether the surrounding decoration competes with that text. A large, detailed source file helps communicate the idea, but it does not remove the practical consequences of reducing the finished patch.

Separate shape from texture

A flat illustration and a stitched surface convey detail differently. Large filled areas, outlines and open spaces need a useful visual balance. Rather than prescribing unverified stitch settings, describe the intended hierarchy and ask for a proof that shows how important forms will be interpreted.

Allow the edge to finish the composition

Keep critical lettering away from the perimeter and decide whether an irregular contour genuinely helps the design. The full border and finished outline take space. Compare a simpler silhouette if it gives the central mark more room without changing what the patch is meant to communicate.

Approve a named revision

Send authorized source artwork with dimensions, quantity and attachment requirements. Combine feedback into one revision list and nominate the final approver. Preserve the approved file version so production is not accidentally based on a previous arrangement with different text or proportions.

Proof, production and shipping

Standard turnaround is approximately 10 business days, including production and shipping, starting from the next business day after final mockup approval. Priority Rush turnaround is approximately 7 business days, including production and shipping, starting from the next business day after final mockup approval.

Quantities from 1 are available. Quantities 1–10 use the existing ten-piece BASE production charge; per-piece add-ons use the actual ordered quantity.

Quotation shipping is free at $120 or more; otherwise it is $35. Confirm the destination and schedule in your quote.

Questions for this project

Can a tiny logo simply be enlarged on the proof screen?

A zoomed view helps inspect details but does not establish readability at the finished size. Review a true-size view as well.

Must every decorative line remain in embroidery?

The important requirement is a recognizable, useful design. Discuss simplifying nonessential detail rather than assuming every thin line can be reproduced identically.
