Why Chenille Patches Stand Out on Los Angeles Apparel
Chenille has a distinctive raised surface created with chenille yarn over a
felt-backed construction. Instead of aiming for the fine visual density of a
woven patch or the stitched detail of embroidery, chenille puts texture, scale
and bold shapes at the center of the design.
That makes it particularly useful for varsity jackets, letterman jackets,
school apparel, sports teams, cheer and dance programs, clubs and fashion pieces.
A well-designed chenille patch can turn a simple letter, number, mascot or emblem
into a strong garment feature.
The artwork still needs to be designed around the finished patch size. Large
forms and readable lettering generally work naturally with the chenille format,
while extremely small interior details may need to be simplified during proofing.
